The distinguishing characteristic of a Freemason’s heart is Charity.
Each year the Worshipful Master of Shotokan Karate Lodge nominates a charity to which we will make a donation. The donations to these worthy causes are only made possible by the generosity of our Members and Guests donating alms at our meetings and by buying raffle tickets and contributing raffle prizes at our festive boards.
In March 2026, the Shotokan Karate Lodge made a donation of £1,000 to Karate for Mental Health, our Past Master, W Bro Stuart M Dubois’ chosen charity. Karate for Mental Health provides inclusive and accessible karate workshops and physical activity projects across the UK, with a focus on helping individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds or those facing mental and physical health challenges.
During 2025, the Shotokan Karate Lodge made two donations:
• £1,000 to the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls & Boys, our Past Master, W Bro Henry Leipold’s chosen charity
• £100 donation to the Royal British Legion.
In January 2024, the Shotokan Karate Lodge made two donations of £1,000 each to:
